that I knew Baraa Kahf, soon-to-be-famous lawyer way back when he was a fellow geek at UCI, a colleague and partner-in-crime at IBM. Baraa is the quintessential overachiever. He graduated from UCI at age 20 while working part-time as an intern at Unisys and IBM, got married to the wonderful Sondos Kholoki around the same time, and then embarked on an IBM career that by all accounts was stellar. During this time he found the time to be active in the American-Muslim community and form Al-Noor--his own Acapella band.
Baraa is gifted with an astutely logical mind and we have a lot of fun debating life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness and everything in between. What was endearing was that we could take diametrically opposing and passionate positions on subjects and yet remain friends at the end of the discussion. It came as no surprise to me when, in 2005, he decided to walk away from a promising career to pursue a degree in Law at UC Davis. Fast forward present day, at 27 , he's a lawyer, father of two beautiful children, and to embark on what I'm sure is going to be a stellar career at Knobbe Marten Olson & Bear.
Congratulations Baraa on well deserved success! Now remember, you gotta let me drive that Maserati, or I'm keying it!
Oh! and happy birthday...
